CTA Pride ... Catch It!

CTAs are unique. CTAs are special.  CTAs are valued.

Pride is something that many of us don't think about every day. Yet, it has a powerful impact on all of us.  Pride in where you work...pride in where you live...pride in how you handle the visitor...and pride in yourself.

Think about an interaction you had with a visitor that went well - they needed something and you helped them.  Or, you simply showed them a courtesy, like opening a door or anticipating their need before they even spoke a word.

When that "magical" interaction takes place, everyone remembers it...you, the visitor, and maybe even your boss, if they're watching.  It's a feeling that, when the interaction is over, you were in the right place at the right time!

Here's what your fellow CTAs said the exceptional front-line employee or volunteer does consistently:

  • Puts strangers at ease - helps them
  • Is dedicated to their employer and city
  • Sets aside their own beliefs and problems to serve the customer
  • Sees work as more than a "job"
  • Asks and listens to start the visitor relationship - Every time they engage they're building a bond
  • Gives them options...if they want to shop, tells them about the mall, boutique shops, etc.
  • Makes them smile...even if they've been frustrated traveling here
  • Uses information as their "tool" - they're "armed"
  • Spreads the word about current things going on - who's in town, etc.
  • Is proactive - if the "lost" visitor doesn't come to them, they go to the visitor
  • Treats them as if it's the first time they've heard the question, even if they've heard it 100 times.
  • Gives a little bit of themselves in the interaction
  • Smiles and has fun!

Does this describe you?

These qualities and characteristics are not only useful to you as a CTA, they are also useful to you for your career and, most importantly, your personal life.  If you value these qualities, make them a central part of your life at work, and if you work hard, you're sure to be successful.

CTAs by their very nature, are people who want to give back...they want to make sure they leave a good impression on the visitor.  And, that builds pride, which is a powerful feeling!   Take time to touch someone's life - it's addictive!

CTAs are unique. CTAs are special.  CTAs are valued.

CTA Pride...Catch It!
